CMWU, with the support of the ICRC, has begun constructing emergency water networks to serve Egyptian Camp No. 5 and displacement camps in the Al-Mufti area of Al-Nuseirat, central Gaza Strip, as part of efforts to improve water supplies for displaced people amid the difficult humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
The works include extending main water pipelines from nearby existing water networks, installing branch connections, and establishing water filling points to serve the targeted displacement camps. The project will also cover displacement camps in Deir al-Balah.
These works are being carried out under a project involving the rental of heavy machinery and the provision of laborers and technicians, with support from the ICRC and under the technical supervision and follow-up of CMWU. The ICRC is also responsible for supplying and providing the materials required for the construction of the networks.
This intervention aims to alleviate the suffering of displaced people under the current circumstances and facilitate their access to water at the minimum possible level.
